The Brilliance Report - Issue No. 36

Fresh perspective and practical ideas to brighten everyday life

Hi Reader!

Have you ever gone through your normal routine and thought, “This could be better”?

Not because anything is terribly wrong. Maybe something just isn’t working as well as it could. Or perhaps part of your day has become so routine that you’ve stopped thinking about whether you actually enjoy it.

I’ve been thinking about that lately.

We’re often tempted to believe that making life better requires a big change, a big plan, or some brilliant new idea.

But sometimes it doesn’t.

Sometimes one thoughtful change can make an ordinary part of your day easier, prettier, more enjoyable, or simply more you.

And those little touches matter.

💡 This Week’s Thought:
You don’t have to change everything to make something better. Sometimes one thoughtful choice can change the way an entire experience feels.

That applies to our homes, our work, the things we create, and even the way we move through an ordinary Tuesday.

🎨 In the Studio:
There’s been a lot happening behind the scenes at Art Brilliance Studio lately!

I’ve been spending quite a bit of time working on the website and thinking about how all the different pieces of Art Brilliance Studio fit together.

And I’ll tell you, not all creative work looks particularly creative from the outside.

Sometimes it’s organizing. Sometimes it’s sorting through ideas. Sometimes it’s making decisions about what belongs, what doesn’t, and how to explain something so that it actually makes sense to the people I’m creating it for.

But I’ve been enjoying seeing the pieces begin to come together.

One thing has become especially clear to me through this process. I want the things I create to bring creativity, beauty, and joy into everyday life.

Sometimes that might be something useful. Sometimes encouraging. Sometimes beautiful. And sometimes it’s simply something that makes an ordinary day feel a little brighter.

There’s still plenty happening behind the scenes, and I’m excited about where it’s going. Things such as an upcoming bundle I am a contributor in, an email will be coming in the next few days with more info about that, and I’m looking forward to sharing more with you as everything all comes together!

🌸 Business Strategies for Makers + PLR Sellers:

Every once in a while, it’s worth looking beyond the next product and asking whether what you’re creating still fits the business you actually want to build.

You don’t need a complicated planning session to do that.

  • Look at your last three creations. Put them side by side and ask what they have in common. Do they serve similar people? Solve related problems? Feel like they belong to the same business? You may spot a pattern that’s worth building on.
  • Check the purpose before you start. When a new idea pops up, decide what role it would play. Is it attracting new customers? Helping an existing customer? Supporting another product? Filling a real gap? A good idea becomes much easier to evaluate when you know what job it’s supposed to do.
  • Make your value easier to understand. Choose one product or resource and describe its benefit in one simple sentence. If that sentence is difficult to write, that’s useful information. Your customer shouldn’t have to work hard to understand why something is for them.
Sometimes stepping back for a few minutes helps us move forward with much better direction.

🌼 Inspiration for Everyone:

Now let’s bring this out of the business world, because I think there’s a fun way all of us can use this idea.

  • Choose one ordinary part of your day that you experience over and over.
Then give it one thoughtful upgrade.
  • If mornings always feel rushed, set out your favorite mug (mine is either my butterfly or my angel mug) and breakfast things the night before so there’s one less decision waiting for you.
  • If there’s a spot in your home you walk past every day that feels blah, add something you genuinely enjoy looking at. A photograph, a little plant, a piece of art, a pretty bowl, or something meaningful to you.
  • If you have an everyday routine you don’t particularly enjoy, pair it with something you do. Put on music while making dinner, listen to something interesting while folding laundry, or take your afternoon coffee somewhere you can enjoy the view.

It doesn’t have to be impressive.
It just needs to make your real life a little nicer.

🌸 Creative Nudge:

Pick one thing you use every day and personalize it in some small way.

Change your phone wallpaper to a photo that makes you smile (I do this all the time). Add a handwritten note to your planner. Put fresh flowers or a few garden clippings in a jar. Make a pretty bookmark for the book you’re reading. Add a favorite photograph to your desk.

Give something ordinary a little personality.

Then enjoy it.

🌼 Mini Reflection:

“The details are not the details. They make the design.” — Charles Eames

I’ve been reminded of that quite a bit while working behind the scenes lately.

The things that make something feel special aren’t always the biggest things.

Sometimes it’s the way the pieces fit together. The extra thought someone put into something. The color that makes you smile. The easier way of doing something you do every day.

Those details aren’t insignificant.

They’re part of what makes our homes, our work, our creations, and our lives feel like our own.

So here’s to noticing the ordinary this week and finding one way to make it just a little more brilliant.

🌸 Wrap Up/Your Next Step:

Before this week gets away from you, notice one moment in your regular routine that could use a little more ease, beauty, or enjoyment.

Then change one thing about it.

That’s it.

You aren’t redesigning your life. You’re paying attention to the life you’re already living and making one part of it better.

Until next time,

Melinda

🌼 For my PLR + small business friends:

1) Teachery has its lifetime offer! Last couple of days to save $200!

I was looking into a platform to contain everything I sell and that has room for me to grow with unlimited space for courses and memberships/communities and found Teachery. They are coming out with a new 4.0 version. I watched the demos and actually was super excited to purchase it! I really want to set it up now but am waiting till it rolls out so I won’t have to migrate anything. If you purchase it now, all the new features will be there when it rolls out in October.

So heads up if you have been thinking about Teachery: the $750 “Founding Member” Lifetime Deal is retiring on Tuesday, September 15 and increasing to $950.

That $200 jump is the main reason I would not wait if Teachery is already on your radar.

All Lifetime buyers also get Teachery 4.0 included when it launches, with communities, memberships, PayPal, better customization, and a faster mobile-friendly rebuild.

If you want to sell courses, digital products, hubs, or community without adding another monthly platform bill, this is the best window to get in.
